The Effectiveness of Dance Interventions to Improve Older Adults’ Health: A Systematic Literature Review

This study uses the guidelines from the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses to analyze previously written articles on PubMed to determine the effectiveness of dance interventions for older adults who had been diagnosed with specific health conditions.

Abstract/Description

Physical inactivity is commonly observed among individuals aged ≥60 y. Identified barriers to sedentary older adults beginning activity include low self-efficacy, pre-existing medical conditions, physical limitations, time constraints, and culture. Dancing has the potential to be an attractive physical activity that can be adjusted to fit a target populations age, physical limitations, and culture.
